Our Back Story
How and why we we started Encore Support
As a mum and foster carer of children with a range of different abilities and challenges for over 20 years, I know all too well the feelings of overwhelm, excitement, loneliness, joy and pure desperation that other parents and carers of complex kids feel.
So much has changed since my first son was diagnosed with Autism, but I will never forget that day leaving the office with his hand in one hand and a piece of paper in the other that contained nothing but a label as “proof” my son would never be like the other kids. No-one could tell me where to go for help, what he needed from me to succeed or where I could turn to for support.
After years of researching, and advocating for my own family, I decided it was time for me to share my experience, knowledge and support with other families like mine.

◊ Hold a current Working with Children Check or are willing to get one
◊ Hold a criminal history check or are willing to get one
◊ Have Family Support or Disability Support Experience
◊ Hold a Certificate 3 or higher in Disability or Community Services or prepared to study
◊ Hold a NSW Drivers Licence
◊ Have First Aid and CPR certification or are willing to undertake a course
◊ Have an NDIS Workers Check or willing to submit to a check
